Please point me in the direction of a medical "talking head" that doesn't say something they CANNOT SUPPORT - but with utter confidence and authority.
IMHO, Attia does NOT acknowledge that cancer is NOT just the tumor but also the initiator. He is pushing the dogma of chemo and checkpoint inhibitors. His twist is to get people to perform screening earlier. This isn't a bad idea - UNLESS - the treatment is marginal per his admission.
We assert that the claims about chemo, immunotherapy, and the checkpoints are overblown using RELATIVE statistics. In absolute terms, the benefits of these cancer treatments are marginal, and when cancer strikes back, it is far more deadly. His 5% and 10% statements may be statistically correct, showing how ineffective the treatments are. But it is hard to find the truth.
IMPORTANTLY - HE NEVER MENTIONS H PYLORI AS A CAUSAL FACTOR. How can this be based on the volume of publications explaining this? What does he think CAUSES a polyp?
What does he THINK (does he) cause reflux to Barrett's? Is it the acid from the reflux, or could it be the H pylori that causes and IS IN THE REFLUX - AND NOW IN THE ESOPHAGUS!?
HOWEVER, FINDING AND ELIMINATING THE CAUSE - NEVER TRULY DISCUSSED EXCEPT FOR THE "USUAL" MARGINAL SUSPECTS - IS FAR FAR FAR MORE IMPORTANT - ESPECIALLY FOR METASTASIS AND REMISSION.
THIS GUY IS NOT A LONGEVITY EXPERT IF HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE CAUSE AND ONLY PROMOTES MORE ACCESS TO RELATIVELY INEFFECTIVE SYMPTOMATIC TREATMENTS. YES, TUMOR DESTRUCTION OR REMOVAL IS IMPORTANT - BUT THE GENESIS CAUSE IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT.
