Weight gain is all about excess intake of calories, right?
You may have heard of the concept of "text" vs. "sub-text." The "text" is something someone told you. The "sub-text" is the REAL meaning or intent behind what they told you - which can be very different.
In this context, sugar is the "text" of weight gain and/or diabetes. But what is the "sub-text?" In medicine, the sub-text may be more appropriately called the "root cause."
So, what's the real 'sub-text' or root cause of diabetes and weight gain? The answer is about to be revealed...
Hidden Hunger - aka micronutrient deficiencies.
Explain, Please! Excess calories almost always come from low-quality foods. Low-quality foods are defined as such because they are processed and consequently low in micronutrients, vitamins, and particularly minerals. Minerals make enzymes work. Enzymes are the carpenters that rebuild and renew your body.
Here is a simple question: Do excess calories (energy) cause disease or, as many health websites say, make you feel tired? Really, does energy make you tired?
When something doesn't make sense - it probably doesn't make sense.
Let's look at what ACTUALLY causes disease.
IMHO, there are four (4) major health pathways.
Energy
Immunity
Repair
Detox (absorption/elimination)
Life causes deterioration. See the figure below for how quickly various body tissues deteriorate and/or regenerate. Thus, the repair pathway keeps us in balance or ahead of deterioration.
Notice how calories have very little to do with cellular damage and repair.
Here is the table that shows how different cells are torn down and built back up.

Good day Dr. Lewis. Good article. As I also have known from one of the articles from Dr. Mercola's website, micronutrient deficiencies is also one of the primary causes of premature death.
